He was born in Chicago on October 10th, 1946 to a Lebanese father and an Italian mother. Sinbad was born on October 10th, 1946 in Chicago to a Lebanese father and an Italian mother. He was called “Jimmy” by his parents who were originally from Lebanon. Sinbad would grow up in the South Side of Chicago.

Sinbad did not have any formal training in comedy, but he has been a comedic actor since 1967 when he was 15 years old. He started out doing stand-up comedy at the age of 16 at local clubs and theaters until finally making it big with the TV show In Living Color in 1990.

Sinbad’s Career And Work

Sinbad started his career in 1977 when he worked on the popular TV show, Laugh-In. His other TV credits include The Sinbad Show, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Sinbad and the Minotaur, and Sinbad: Beyond Westworld. He has also appeared in films such as Spaceballs, Beowulf, Jingle All The Way, and Babe: Pig in the City.

He is also a voice actor who has voiced characters for numerous animated movies including Disney’s Aladdin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Oz: The Great And Powerful. 

Sinbad has continued to work on television shows and films over the course of four decades but has made it clear that he wants to focus more on his standup now. In addition to that, he is currently writing a book about comedy which will be called “How To Be Funny: A Guide For Everyone Who Wants To Laugh Their Ass Off!”

 Where Did He Get His Start?

Sinbad is best known for being the lead comedian on the show In Living Color. He made his debut in the show in 1986 and stayed with it for four years until its cancellation in 1990. He then went into directing and writing as well as appearing on other shows such as Mork from Ork, The Sinbad Show, and The New Sinbad Show.

Sinbad has always been interested in storytelling. His father, a Lebanese immigrant, brought him and his brothers to his mother’s homeland of Italy to see the World Cup in 1958. This sparked an interest in soccer that would later influence Sinbad’s work as a comedian. In 1964 he moved to America with his family and settled in Chicago where he attended Douglass High School before moving to California to attend college at San Diego State University.

Sinbad would later abandon his college education and pursue comedy full-time by returning to Chicago where he began performing at different comedy clubs around the city. He quickly gained popularity by developing innovative ways of telling jokes both on stage and through his stand up special.

Sinbad’s most iconic role is as the hero Alibaba from Disney’s animated movie Aladdin which was released in 1992; the film was such a success that it became the top grossing movie of 1992 and won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Original Score. Sinbad went on to play supporting roles in many other blockbuster films including Dogma, Boogie Nights, Forrest Gump, The Mask of Zorro, The Sum of All Fears, 10 Things I Hate About You and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. 

Sin bad used his fame from these successful films to start producing his own projects including movies like The Adventures of Sinbad which was released in 1994 and Jingle All The Way which was released in 1996.
